“Idea: we’re going to get a bunch of hardcore dudebrah attorneys, we’re gonna put ‘em in a room, we’re gonna tell them to GO KICK ASS, and we’re going to put a mercurial engineer in charge of them.”

I almost labeled this as ‘Pop Culture’, because it’s all about the entertainment value…
LOL this means he shopped whatever his "initiate & execute lawsuits" idea is to a bajillion firms that would normally do anything for money but they all said no pic.twitter.com/NIQklxzUqM

I apologize; I’ve been informed Elon Musk is not an engineer. I drew conclusions based on his grasp of law. I regret the error.

It’s like hiring a surgeon by saying “please send links to kidneys you have removed”

elon is asking for "street fighters" rather than attorneys at established firms because, like the Church of Scientology, he wants their reputation as litigators to be a resource which he can spend on unethical acts

heh, what could go wrong with an in-house litigation team that reports directly to the famously thin-skinned CEO and will have a new general counsel every three months? https://t.co/d2fOKxnK5U

2022 gonna end with guiliani representing musk but mistakenly turning up to a Marriott Courtyard instead of the courthouse

This is all going to end with a naked Elon Musk pounding the ground on one of Epstein's islands after livestreaming his search for evidence the Clintons buried bodies there.

Christ, what an asshole!
I thought Elon was on the spectrum not on the BiPolar (strong mania blend).
Musk is a four-letter word.
’nuff said.
😉
This is painful, watching a glibertarian-but-reasonable man descend into full qanon. Tesla is a great achievement and SpaceX is revolutionary, but he’s losing it.
@DanB: Cocaine is a helluva drug.
I’m getting a lot of entertainment out of watching the musk-oaf bellowing and thrashing
Musk is just reminding me more and more of TFG. He might be academically smarter than TFG but the gas lighting and whining and whatever mental illness he has is very TFG like. With all the new Tesla competitor vehicles coming out in the next couple of years there’s, there’s a decent chance Tesla’s stock will continue to drop which means he’s going to have even more freakouts on Twitter.
You got to Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive,
Elon-gate the Negative.
.
I’ll see myself out.
@ Dan B: When he hosted SNL, he said he had Aspergers.🤷🏻♀️
I am very glad he decided to come out as a Repthuglican. His public wish/demand for a third party was on the level of a 9 year old.
and names kids after dot-matrix printer errors.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
@lollipopguild
Musk is McConnell without the latter’s charm and charisma.

@debbie The DSM-V eliminated Asperger’s as a diagnosis and “rolled” it into autism spectrum disorder. Some countries’ psychiatric associations have not followed suit. This is why my nephew, diagnosed in 2004, has Asperger’s while I, diagnosed in 2021, have ASD but both of us express our autistic traits in similar ways.
@Rafl W
Bad commenter! No biscuit for you!
I swear he’s trying to blow up the Twitter deal but make the Twitter side blink first. I get the strange feeling even him crashing Tesla stock doesn’t matter to him. He never really wanted Twitter I think. He just wanted to bully them into letting Dolt45 back on Twitter just because he could. And I don’t think for a fucking second he ever voted for the Democratic party.

That seems a bit harsh.
True of course.
But a bit harsh.
Also well earned.
@Yutsano
Musk has donated to the RNC, including three small donations ($495 each) on Jan 5, 7 and 8 of 2021. Hmmmm, what?
Elon is just the richest and most influential spoiled brat in the world, far exceeding TFG in both wealth and lack of self-control. He’s probably trying to build this inhouse lawsuit squad simply because Tesla’s lawyers told him why it was a bad idea. He’s only going to wind up with the shady characters no reputable law firm would want.
Good to see that Balloon Juice’s snark power has been restored to 100%, along with Adam’s phenomenal geopolitical analysis. Thank you all. BJ withdrawal was much more severe than I thought it would be.
“Muskrat Ramble,” Sidney Bechet
Greetings from down under where we have just turfed out our Christian conservative pm and his motley crew of oafs and dickheads in favor of a mostly centre left govt with a generous helping of greens and climate crisis specific candidates. A whole bunch of professional women running as climate independents just took out some of the worst conservative rabble (in what we’re thought you be safe tory seats) and the greens may steal a Senate seat off our most established white supremacist… It’s a good day in Australia.
There should be a montage of Heist Movie type scenes where Musk lands his personal spaceship outside the house/ranch/cave/mountain keep/burger franchise/supermax penitentiary where these various ‘hardcore street fighter’ attorneys have retired to since clashing with ‘The System’, concluding with him telling his harassed (but incredibly attractive) PA that it’s not enough, he needs one last bastard.
PA – (ashen faced) “But, Sir… he’s a recluse. Nobody’s even seen him for years.”
Musk – “Then it’s lucky I’m not a Nobody.”
Cut to shot of The Vatican. Camera plunge to deep beneath the ancient building. Focus on a cell in a cavern lined with crosses, Latin chanting and the wet, gruesome sound of someone being flagellated.
Hooded Monk – “Holy One, you have a visitor.”

You give us hope.
So good to see you all again!
Since it’s an open thread, I’ll indulge myself by copying a comment I just dropped in the local paper. (Replying to commenter who expressed concern about the “genocide” of Black women allegedly choosing abortion at a higher rate than white):
Black women have a long history of being treated as chattel and livestock, whose purpose is to produce offspring to serve the needs of others. For them to reclaim ownership of their bodies is not genocide.
Additionally, Black women are less likely than white women to receive adequate and appropriate medical care (which would support continuing their pregnancies if they choose) and to receive fair pay for their work (to support themselves and their children). These may both be factors in the higher rate of abortion. If you are truly concerned with helping Black families to survive and flourish, you would be more effective if you focused on challenging the culture that often tips the scales in favor of termination. Would you be willing to consider that change?
@TheMightyTrowel
So good to see you here! I saw the election news yesterday and it made me hopeful, but after reading your comment it makes me ev en more hopeful.
You are missed around here; I hope you start commenting more again. 🙂
@Liminal Owl
Great response! Did they actually publish it?
@WaterGirl: It’s a comment on the web page, responding to a comment. (And thanks.)
I have (in IFS language)* a specific part that writes comments and Letters to the Editor. (Will copy others here if you want.). The Thin Black Duke keeps encouraging me to write more like that, but I don’t know how to intentionally trigger that part.
*[jargon note: IFS = Internal Family Systems (a terrible name, but I can’t change it). IFS is a psychotherapy modality that looks at the language of “a part of me says this, a part of me says that” and takes it seriously as a common experience with an important reality. Not MPD/DID, but similar at a lower intensity: we have protective parts and manager parts and exiled (suppressed) parts, and a major goal of therapy is to get all the parts cooperating for the well-being of the person. I am an IFS-trained psychotherapist and habitually think in this mode. /jargon]
The reference to Cooley is a hoot. He fired Cooley as one of his law firms when *they* refused to fire a lawyer they’d hired who had worked on one of the SEC’s investigations of Musk. So he fired them for having the integrity to stand up to him (and, not incidentally, it was a stupid move – Cooley actually had done him a favor by taking the lawyer out of the SEC). The story made the Wall Street Journal, so every big, good law firm knows about it.
@TheMightyTrowel
Thanks for the good news! I heard about a big victory over the conservatives, and a pledge by the new PM to make Australia a renewable energy powerhouse, but that’s about it.

Not only is entitlement a hell of a drug, it can make someone well over just being infected with it into a simpleton. As the subject in question has shown. I sort of enjoy that his wealth is based upon his stock in his company so that his assholyness takes the legs out of his public stature and his standing in the wealth line up. Sure he’s still wealthy, sure his product, while flawed is better than a lot of the superficially wealthy shitheads that have influence “product’s”, he’s still a very wealthy man by the concept of wealth being based upon ideas that can gain and lose value by the measurement of gross stupidity. IOW a dollar is a dollar, a stock portfolio is only as valuable as it’s owners/originator’s mouth. IOW Elon seems to have sort of trashed himself. It’s almost enough whatever to create a giggle.
What goes up, Musk come down.
